SOSNA Affordable Housing Projects

SOSNA's community development division has fostered development in our service area, in partnership with a number of development entities, in order to rebuild our community and promote housing and commercial opportunities for low- and moderate-income residents. SOSNA's development activities include:

  • Bancroft Court: 12 single-family homes and one duplex on the 1600 and 1700 blocks of Webster and Fitzwater Streets.
  • Artists' Village: 36 apartments in an adaptive reuse of an historic hospital at 17th and Bainbridge Streets
  • Doctors' Row: 10 owner-occupied duplexes on the 1600 block of Christian Street. SOSNA trained the new owners in fair housing regulations, landlord/tenant laws, and leasing and home repair requirements.
  • Saint Anthony's Senior Residence and Family Town Homes: Renovation of an historic school into 38 senior apartments, and renovation or new construction of 15 rental homes on surrounding blocks.

SOSNA's current project, in partnership with Universal Community Homes, is the Julian Abele Homes, 24 affordable new construction town homes, to be completed by 2006.
