The
Altar Guild of the National
Cathedral has been a popular exhibitor in prior years and was
invited to be a major exhibitor in 2005. For this display they have chosen
as their inspiration the Cathedral's Chapel of the Holy Spirit.
The
100-member Altar Guild is responsible for floral arrangements at the Cathedral
for important national events, such as the funeral of former president
Ronald Reagan. Treasures on display from the Cathedral include a paschal
candle used for that funeral as well as lanterns and candelabra by noted
Philadelphia ironworker Samuel Yellin.

Next
to the main exhibit is a miniature replica of the Bishop's Garden featuring
the Peace Rose, which was smuggled out of wartime France just before the
Nazi invasion, propagated in the United States, named an All-America selection
the day of the fall of Berlin, and presented to every delegate of the
1945 San Francisco meeting that resulted in the formation of the United
Nations.
