1900 Block of Catharine Street
Health and Safety Hazards

1917 Catharine: Unoccupied, Open Windows, Human Waste

There are several open trash containers in front of this property, and they are attracting bags of household trash. The previous owner, who took care to keep the area clean, would be mortified.

This open cellarway is barely covered by this plywood, creating a safety hazard as well as a haven for rats and other vermin.

A neighborhood resident fills bottles of urine and leaves them in vacant lots and other locations -- this is now the choice spot.

1934 Catharine and 20th Street Garden: Unsafe Building, Human Waste

These graffiti have sprung up now that the garden fence has been breached (see below).

Either the owner or squatters unsealed this dangerous shell, and the gardeners recently noted human feces in the lilac bed.

The human origin of this deposit (noted during March 26 plant rescue) was more obvious before the rain.

This open fence creates an easy path to the shell. Note proximity to elementary school (directly across street).
