The
miniature gardens, set into niches in a wall, are very popular with show-goers,
who will stand in line patiently for half an hour or more to see them.
This year's theme was "made in the U.S.A." The garden shown
above, measuring about 15" in its longest dimension, models a colonial
settlement in our area.
"Good
neighbors," showing a tidy householder next to a more, ummm, easygoing
set of residents, is actually put together by two neighboring couples,
each of whom took one half of the display. It was a clear blue ribbon/best
achievement entry and a "wow!" showstopper. I was lucky enough
to be there while maintenance was taking place, so I could photograph
it without the protective glass covering.
