The main entrance to the Flower Show is through a pair of wrought iron gates that graced the White House from the time of President James Monroe through the administration of Franklin Delano Roosevelt. Recently restored, they will be returned to the American Horticultural Society, their current owner, after the show. Show designer Sam Lemheney and landscape designer Burke Brothers Landscape Contractors built the central feature around three features of the American landscape: country casual, suburban soiree, and city chic. Once past the gates, visitors experience a country meadow, while side aisles meander through a woodland setting. |
